"The best thing we can do is ask why there is so much discrimination." This was the profound contribution of a British National Party councillor at an open forum on how to encourage and support businesses to promote equality and end racial discrimination.
Michael Simpkins, who was elected to Corsham town council in Wiltshire last June, did not agree with most participants at the meeting in Trowbridge on 16 February that Wiltshire County Council and Wessex Chamber of Commerce should provide equality training. "I don't think there is a need for this. Everyone is aware of the law," Simpkins said, demonstrating that he is not aware of much at all.
