UKIP Councillor Calls Special School Pupils "Retards".

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Sunday, 30 August 2015, 12:15

A UKIP councillor has been forced to apologise after he described pupils who attend a special school as "retards".

Councillor Bob Farrer, who is a member of St Neots Town Council and who is also a member of Huntingdonshire District Council made the disgusting comments at a council meeting this month.

Farrer was discussing plans for The Trinity School moving to the town when he said:

"We will have a new school which is going to be for retards".

Some of the parents of the children are now quite rightly considering making a formal complaint.

Tammy Bailey who attended the meeting and who has two children with learning difficulties said:

"I couldn't believe what I heard, the word he used is just not acceptable,"

"I did have a go at him, I did let my mouth run away with me. I didn't mean to, but I was so upset. You can't say that a school is for retards."

The Trinity School, one of a group of three, is for children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and is set to move from Huntingdon to the former regional college site.

Farrer is the Councillor for the Eaton Ford Ward in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire. He was originally a Conservative Councillor but recently defected to UKIP.

UKIP have suffered a humilating defeat in a by election held yesterday in Cornwall.

The xenophobic party saw a 23 percent slump in their vote, losing out to the Conservative candidate John Herd in the Camborne Pendarve ward by election.

In fact UKIP candidate Michael Pascoe could only muster a paltry 8% of the vote despite being the incumbent party.

The by election took place after the resignation of UKIP councillor Harry Blakeley, who won the seat for UKIP in 2013.

The Liberal Democrat candidate Mark Billings took second place with Labour in third, pushing UKIP down to 4th place.

A post mortem has now been declared with UKIP in Cornwall to try and unravel why UKIP have become so unpopular in the Cornish town.
