Tommy Robinson aka Stephen Yaxley Lennon, leader of the English Defence League has just announced that he is standing down as joint deputy leader of the miniscule British Freedom Party.
Posting on his Twitter account he wrote ” I have today resinged(sic) from my position with #Britishfreedom i wish to concentrate on edl. i dont have the passion 4 anything but #edl”
“A full statement will be released later. I still wish kev etc the best. Just not for me.”
Kev is of course Kevin Carroll, who is the other joint deputy leader and BFP candidate in the forthcoming Bedfordshire Police Commissioner election.
Speculation is rife over the real reason for his sudden resignation with the most likely explanation the fact that he has several court cases soon to be heard, with any possible guilty verdicts being potentially embarrassing for British Freedom.

CamHendo wrote “@EDLTrobinson I have nothing but respect for you but the EDL are going nowhere, Demonstrations are doing nothing, its all about the politics”
Tommy’s telling reply was “@_camhendo i agree. But for me to stand in politics it could only be under the banner edl. As i said i wasn’t for me.”
