More Racism at Reform UK Staffordshire County Council

Update (01/04/26): Following our investigation, Reform UK suspended Cllr Lynn Dean. She has since resigned.

We expose the rotten social media activity of yet another Staffordshire councillor, just months after the leader of the Council had to step down for similar posts. 

Martin Murray is set to be sworn in as the new leader of Staffordshire County Council and he has vowed to “act swiftly, correctly, and severely” if any more Reform councillors are found to be acting in a racist way. 

The Reform-led council has already faced a series of racism scandals, resulting in the resignation of leader Ian Cooper in December after HOPE not hate uncovered racist comments. This followed the revelation by the ReformExposed X/Twitter account that Cooper was a Top Fan of a white supremacist Facebook page. 

Others were investigated in separate incidents, but no action was taken. Peter Mason was allowed to remain in cabinet and Chris Large has since left the group for other reasons.

In what is now becoming endemic amongst Nigel Farage’s unvetted councillors, HOPE not hate has now uncovered racist posts from yet another Reform UK Staffordshire county councillor. This time it is Cllr Lynn Dean, aka “Cockney Rebel” on X.

Reform Councillor Lynn Dean

Lynn Dean is a former UKIP campaigner and branch chair, boasting 18 years service in employment at a council. She gave up on UKIP, saying that “UKIP is a spent force. More people are attracted to moderation than extreme right politics” and has gone on to warn others that they shouldn’t appear too extreme if they want to win elections. 

Elected as a Reform UK councillor in May 2025, after three unsuccessful attempts for UKIP, she now represents the Staffordshire County Council division of May Bank & Wolstanton along with Knutton at local level. She has also secured multiple committee appointments including a seat at SACRE which oversees the provision of Religious Education at schools in the region.

Cllr Dean tweets under what appears to be an undisclosed account and has expressed a number of extremely racist views that are not too dissimilar to those of Ian Cooper. In fact, she recently replied to the disgraced ex-leader to say how he is “sorely missed”. It is time they both left the council.

Racism 

Lynn has a lot to say about Black people and Africans. In March 2023 she posted, “If Africans are the most intelligent race on the planet, why are they so backward?” and “Some black people, certainly not all, are delusional in their desire to get one over white people. I call it the Cleopatra effect.” 

Back in 2022 she even replied to a now-deleted account with “Black people don’t want to be criticised for what their African ancestors did, but they sure as hell want to hold on to the chips on their shoulders.”

In response to Britain First’s Ashlea Simon she commented, “Blacks have more than made up for what happened to other blacks in the past, with their violence and law breaking.”

She has also taken aim at Muslims, calling for Mosques to be closed. In September 2024 she responded to a post about the banning of the burqa with, “I’m getting a bit tired of the Muslims throwing their weight around.” 

Other comments that we have found mention a “Muslim insurrection” and as recently as October 2025 she agreed that Muslims are “smuggling guns into the UK.” A 2025 comment of hers that remains without context reads, “Indigenous Britain is slipping further into the abyss. We will soon reach the point of no return.” 

Far-right support 

With views like these, it comes as no surprise that she has a history of interacting with and showing support for well known far right activists, regularly engaging with figures such as Britain First’s deputy leader Ashlea Simon. She responded to Simon calling Humza Yousaf “evil”, and has also suggested that Keir Starmer be “hung drawn and quartered.”

Lynn has also been hiding her ongoing support for figures such as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson), Steve Laws and Rupert Lowe. 

In her support for Robinson, she tweeted “I’m Tommy” over 15 times and responded to a critic with “you’re not fit to lick Tommy Robinson’s boots”. 

Even up until this week, she has continued to retweet similar content on X/Twitter. She has shared videos from Danny Tommo (who was convicted for his part in an attempted kidnapping), Britain First, and a number of anonymous far-right accounts.

However, she has some harsh words for Rupert Lowe, suggesting that his Restore party is accepting “Reform’s dregs” – presumably she isn’t planning to defect to them any time soon… 

Questions for Cllr Murray

If Murray is to keep his word to “act swiftly, correctly, and severely” then he has little choice here. Dean’s activity on twitter goes well beyond what anyone would deem acceptable for an elected representative. 

With the local elections fast approaching this is another reminder just how extreme some of Reform’s representatives truly are.
