Reform’s local elections campaign in Bradford is off to a bad start. Although party leaders said they have the best vetting procedures in Britain, HOPE not hate today exposes one of their candidates for extreme anti-Muslim comments.
Daniel Devaney, who is Reform’s candidate in the Bradford ward of Clayton & Fairweather Green, said he wanted to “blast [Muslims] all of the face of the earth [sic]”.
Writing on Facebook in September 2024, he further described Muslims as “pure scum”, adding: “We’re being invaded by potential terrorists day in day out.”

Devaney said Britain is being “invaded by people from a Muslim country that wants to change us”.
He also joked about Muslims being paedophiles. “New Muslim valentine card,” he wrote in a post in 2024. “Roses are red violets are blue my girlfriend is 11 and I’m 52.”

“I’m sick to death of all this give Palestine a million shares on fb the only million things I’d give them is bombs Israel should flatten Gaza [sic],” he wrote in late 2023. “They shouldn’t stop till Gaza is finally flattened.”
Devaney, despite competing in an election, has called for “civil unrest if it means riots and marches so be it” to remove the current government.

While sharing an archive video of Enoch Powell saying “there will be the whip hand over the white man held by the immigrant”, Devaney wrote: “Never a more truer word said [sic].”
“Fucking Muslims at it again with their fucking fireworks,” he wrote last year, adding they “do wot they want”, including, apparently park on double yellow lines.
Devaney is not the only Reform candidate in Bradford who has made anti-Muslim or otherwise extreme statements. John Worsley, also standing in the ward of Clayton & Fairweather Green, shared a comment on Facebook calling for Stephen Lennon, the serial criminal also known as Tommy Robinson, to be knighted.

He has also reposted comments in favour of banning halal slaughter, describing it as a “brutal custom”, and calling asylum seekers criminals to be deported.

Meanwhile Stephen Hammond, the Reform man for Holme Wood & Bierley, was found to have promoted his candidacy and contacted a sex worker on the same social media account (as reported by Reform Exposed). “Yes I would love to have some fun,” he wrote under an advert for a sex worker. He also complained about female football commentators.
If this is Reform vetting at its best, we’d hate to see it at its worst…
