Well despite all the bluster the EDL “event” appears to be over.
EDL leader Stephen Lennon aka Tommy Robinson is claiming over 1000 turned out for the EDL, however, people in Sheffield are telling us that there are less than 500.
The EDL walked to the Cenotaph, disgraced the area for five minutes and then returned to what they do best, getting drunk in the various pubs.
The heavy police presence are only letting shoppers through into the Barkers Pool area, stopping anyone who the believe looks like an EDL supporter.
Some of the EDL are currently kettled in the Victoria Street area at the top of West Street.
All in all, it was a pretty pointless exercise by the EDL, huge police presence at a massive cost to the public with local trade damaged for the second weekend running.
Well done Tommy you plank !
