Racism and mental health in sport

What is so often left out of discussions about racism is the impact it can have on a person or a community’s mental health. From low self-esteem and internalised shame to generational trauma, racism can impact us in so many ways.

That’s why we organised a webinar to discuss the multitude of ways that racism can impact our mental health as an individual, as a community and as a society, particularly as this relates to the sporting world. Roxana Khan-Williams was joined by Azeem Rafiq, Professor Ann John, Shaista Aziz and Kevin George.
