Liberal Democracy Under Attack: A European Union Election Special Report

With all the talk of the forthcoming UK General Election, many have forgotten that much of the rest of Europe is going to the polls in the coming days to elect the next European Parliament.

With 720 seats up for grabs across 27 member states, radical and far-right parties are currently leading the polls in as many as nine countries, including Austria, Belgium, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, and France. Worrying results are also predicted in Sweden, Germany, Spain and Portugal.

With such bad results expected, it’s not surprising that some are asking if the European Union is facing an existential threat from the far right.

HOPE not hate have released a new report with everything you need to know about the forthcoming elections with revealing new polling from 10 European countries and contributions from twelve leading experts on the far right.

The Special European Election Pull Out Includes:

  • An exclusive interview with Professor Cas Mudde – One of the world’s leading experts on the far right outlines his predictions and analysis of the European elections.
  • Anita Nissen explores what far-right victories will mean for the future of EU climate policies.
  • András Bíro-Nagy takes a deep dive into Viktor Orbán and Fidesz in Hungary.
  • Leading experts from Germany, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Sweden, Finland and Denmark provide insights into how the far right are set to perform in the EU elections and what that will mean for their countries.
