In a move that is sure to infuriate the EDL leadership an EDL division has bucked the trend and declared its support for UKIP.
The Dewsbury EDL division, based in West Yorkshire has announced it is supporting the anti European party after its leader Nigel Farage topped a recent MSN poll naming him the top UK politician of 2012.
The support for the rival right wing party will no doubt irritate joint EDL leaders Stephen Lennon aka Tommy Robinson and the new British Freedom chairman Kevin Carroll who became leader of the BNP splinter at the beginning of the year following the resignation of its previous chairman Paul Weston.
It is unclear if the Dewsbury division is just a rogue division or if other divisions within the EDL will follow and offer its support to UKIP.
