Griffin: Will be watching Eastenders instead this Thursday

Some confusion at the Oxford Union over the invitation to Nick Griffin to speak this Thursday.

Apprently they have just discovered that the invite was sent out by a new member of the committee last December (as well as to Lady Gaga and Mitt Romney) and have immediately rescinded the invitation.

Judith Flacks, campaigns director for UJS, tweeted that the invitation was “unacceptable” and said it should be withdrawn. “Stop actively inviting BNP leaders to speak on campus,” she wrote in a message directed at the Union. “Start realising your responsibility to student welfare.”

Their very nice press officer tells me he is very “****** off” that Griffin was ever invited at all. Alex Reut-Hobbs told me “A new Union committee member arbitrarily invited Griffin. We’re taking disciplinary action, and Griffin’s invite now rescinded”.

No doubt Griffin will blame Muslims, Jews, liberals, Communists, gays, blacks, Asians etc, etc for this.

Good!
