Kev Bryant: Liar
Last month I was rather scathing about the Dudley Express & Star newspaper report about an upcoming march in the town by Britain First.
You’ll be interested to know, that the paper did not apologise for striking fear into shoppers and shopkeepers, but did later report how the march by Britain First was closer to 50 than the two thousand the paper had predicted would attend-but without comment.
Then, last week, having learned no lesson about scaremongering and sensationalism, the paper was back at it again, by declaring “Thousands wage war on planned Dudley mosque.” I kid you not.
Shameless: Express and Star does it again
This time it was not about the English Defence League (EDL) or Britain First, but about the supposedly mysterious march by football hooligans planned for the town, which I had only blogged about some five months before, even being kind enough to name the person behind the idea for the march and responsible for organising it. I did so again last week, just so you know…
I’m not going to bother going into too much more detail here, as the pub is open but the world won’t listen etc, but it does seem that anyone can tell a lie about Dudley and it will seemingly go unnoticed and more than likely, unpunished.
Bryant: on his last big day out
The organiser of the march is Kevin Bryant and he is using the name Kevin Smith [who does he think he is, Tommy Robinson?] to anyone who wants to ask him about his march.
He has now written a statement saying that he and his mates are not going to Dudley to “cause distress” and that people should not fall for “dirty lies and propaganda” about him, his mates, his daft beliefs, their plans or their stupidity.
Bryant’s statement
Indeed, Bryant writes that shopkeepers should stay open when he stages his hooligan march and that he and his gang could even “increase their custom for the day.” I can only assume he is talking there directly to any off licences or drug dealers that operate in the town.
They could not give a toss, Kevin
Here are a few home truths, from the very Facebook page of the group Bryant says are not going to Dudley for trouble. The very page of the group is littered with vulgar attacks aimed at Muslims, the EDL and also little regard for those shopkeepers in Bryant’s statement. I wish more would take a leaf from the page of the Sheffield Star.
My point being? Anyone can tell a lie about Dudley.
You just need an idiot who believes it.
