HOPE not hate strongly condemns the attacks in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Nice, Avignon and the French consulate.
No ifs or buts, we must all stand united against hate, no matter where it emanates and what cause it espouses. At a time when France has become deeply polarised over its methods to combat extremism and promote integration, it remains more important than ever for French citizens to come together, find common ground, work out how to how to have difficult conversations constructively and stand against hatred and violence.
We must also challenge extremists and opportunists that aim to exploit such events to radicalise the public and promote racism and tensions between communities.
In this moment, however, we urge all to focus not on the politics, but on the names and faces of those who lost their lives and were impacted by this brutality. Our thoughts and solidarity are with the victims and their loved ones.
