Pavlo Lapshyn
Yesterday, A 25 year old Ukrainian engineering student, Pavlo Lapshyn appeared at the Old Bailey and pleaded guilty to the murder of an 82 year old Muslim, Mohammed Saleem.
He murdered the elderly grandfather in cold blood, stabbing him in the back three times as he made his way back home from his local mosque.
The reasons behind the murder? Lapshyn wanted to spark a race war because he hated anyone who wasn’t white.
Mohammed Saleem wasn’t his only intended victim, Lapshyn planned to kill and maim hundreds of innocent men, women and children as they attended their places of worship during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Ukrainian planted bombs at three West Midland mosques and it is only through sheer luck that no one was killed. One bomb, packed with nails and shrapnel left at a mosque in Tipton was located near to the car park with the intention of hitting worshippers as they arrived for their daily prayers. Carnage was only avoided because the time for prayers advertised on the mosque’s website was changed by an hour because it was Ramadan.
Pavlo Lapshyn pleaded guilty to murder, as well as plotting to cause explosions near mosques in Walsall, Tipton and Wolverhampton in June and July and is due to be sentenced on Friday.
Hope not Hate will be covering Pavlo Lapshyn’s trial and sentencing in greater detail in the latest issue of our magazine.
