Yesterday, I wrote about the online racism from Phil Kimberley, the BNP candidate standing in the Attleborough ward of Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council.

A large number of his racist comments related to football and as we believe Kimberley is possibly a Coventry City season ticket holder.

As football clubs are clamping down on racism by their supporters, we referred the matter to Coventry City Football Club for an official response.

This morning, Lara Thorns, Press & Community Liaison Officer for Coventry City responded with the following statement.

“Coventry City Football Club is committed to equality within the game and ensuring that we are doing all that we can to help eradicate discrimination. We take any complaints relating to racist abuse amongst supporters seriously and will investigate any incidents reported to us.

“We have been made aware of comments posted by a supporter on Facebook and have referred the matter to the police. We are now awaiting the outcome of any subsequent investigation and will take appropriate action based on its findings.”

Hope not Hate are delighted that Coventry City Football Club have taken the matter seriously and have passed the details on to the police.
