In recent years, many MP’s have spoken out about feeling unsafe. A recent report found that half of MPs say that abuse and intimidation has made them feel anxious or depressed (49%), and a similar proportion unsafe (52%).
It’s hardly surprising they feel so fearful considering the horrifying murder of their colleagues Jo Cox in 2016 and David Amess in 2021. Just yesterday, Amess’ daughter called on Reform UK to suspend Ricky Hodges, who is standing in the Tressell ward for Hastings Borough Council, after he was revealed to have said that former Prime Minister Theresa May “needs to be hung”.
Shockingly, we can reveal that Linda McFarlane, Reform UK’s candidate in the Gateshead ward of Chopwell & Rowlands Gill, has also called for politicians to be killed.
As recently as last October, McFarlane called for Keir Starmer and David Lammy to be killed, in unequivocal terms, tagging the prime minister and deputy PM in a reply that says “YOU ALL SHOULD BE SHOT”.

This alone makes McFarlane completely unfit to represent any political party as an elected official. But her extreme behaviour doesn’t stop there.
In response to posts about migrants crossing the channel she said “Let them all drown”, and to Restore leader Rupert Lowe she suggested “Don’t turn the boats back just turn them over then there’s less to house feed and whatever else they get. They bring our Country Down”.

Posting from her business account on Twitter/X, she has called for a “white Britain” with a parliament of only “white English people”. The business is run with her daughter Danielle Cavanagh, who is also standing for Reform.

Linda also uses the account to attack Black people. Only a few months ago, while candidates were going through Reform UK vetting she posted “these Black people who feel their colour is against them. Maybe it’s because they arent good enough!!!!. These Black people need to get used to the colour of their skin 🌚 You don’t hear Chinese or other ethnics pull the ‘race card’. Pathetic”.

She also says Enoch Powell was right, and backs Ashlea Simon from Britain First’s calls for remigration. After a Reform UK meeting she wrote “Call me racist I don’t bloody care I want my England back with the majority of White people not colour”.

HOPE not hate have found a shocking number of extreme and unfit Reform UK candidates in recent weeks, but Linda McFarlane might be the worst yet. Her extreme racist views would be enough for any respectable party to kick her out but her dangerous comments calling for rival politicians to be shot surely leaves Reform UK with no option?
