Convicted Domestic Abuser Set to Speak at Telford Demo

Levi Mason, an anti-migrant activist from Liverpool, is set to speak at a Telford ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration on 11 October. The event has been organised by Alexandra Whyte and the Telford Patriots. Whyte’s sister, Rhiannon, was killed in 2024 by an asylum seeker.

However, HOPE not hate can reveal that Mason was previously sentenced to four years in prison for domestic violence, after admitting to seven counts of actual bodily harm.

Court documents from 2013 revealed that Mason had put his then-partner through a ‘week of hell’. This included attempting to fill her eyes and ears with polyfilla, beating her with a broomhandle, pressing a nine-inch knife against her and smothering her with a pillow. He also threatened to pour acid over her face so that “no-one else would ever want to get with her”. Mason was 27 at the time.

Ironically, Mason runs Northwest Community Safeguarding, a volunteer community team aiming to “promote safety, provide community support, and help keep local places safe and welcoming for everyone”. Despite the group’s claim to stand against discrimination and racism, Mason attended Britain First’s (BF) Manchester ‘March for Remigration’. BF is an openly ethnonationalist group.

Mason is also a member of the British Security Project, an anti-migrant vigilante team which provides ‘security personnel’, predominantly for far right protests. The group gained public attention back in July, when nine members were arrested under the Terrorism Act after flying drones fitted with cameras over an Ijitma event. The charges were later dropped.

Time and time again, far right groups like the BSP claim to prioritise public safety, particularly that of women and girls, while simultaneously welcoming members with violent histories. Mason is yet another example of an anti-migrant activist campaigning on the grounds that immigrants pose a threat towards British women, all while being one himself.

HOPE not hate are calling on the hosts of this Saturday’s march in Telford to remove Mason from the speakers list, as it would be hypocritical for them to platform a convicted domestic abuser while honouring victims.
