Patriot Platform (PP), an “army” of Christian “patriots” led by Danny ‘Tommo’ Thomas, has surged into the public eye after a series of protests in Dover, Portsmouth and outside the Daily Mail offices in London.
Launched in June, the group unites a web of local anti-migrant groups into a single body. PP aims to, in Thomas’s words, “reclaim our borders, restore order and send a clear message: Britain belongs to the British people”. The group functions as a vigilante unit to combat immigration and revive what it says are Christian values, ready to spring into action across the country at Thomas’s word.
It most recently hit headlines after Thomas livestreamed himself slashing a dinghy in the Channel with a knife while an emergency responder was still on board. Thomas is now on remand, having been charged with criminal damage and failing to give the PIN for his phone. Despite this, PP is attempting to maintain momentum.
PP is made up of a total of 29 affiliate groups (full list available below) spread across England. There are also a number of unofficial ‘patriot’ groups. Some of these are almost entirely inactive, while others are effectively PP affiliates in all but name, attending meetings and events alongside formal chapters with little differentiation between them.
Affiliate groups are often, but not always, sectioned under regional groups. For example, the North West Patriots are an umbrella group under which the Greater Manchester Patriots and Preston Patriots, amongst others, sit.
Thomas sits firmly at the top of the organisation, with a selection of prominent public-facing PP organisers across the country now attempting to lead their region. One of the highest ranking of these is Samuel “Frank” White, head of Protect Our Postcode and Thomas’s close confidant. White has acted as the main point of contact between Thomas and PP since his arrest, having visited Thomas in custody.
Below is a regional breakdown of the PP network. It includes each affiliate group, their leading figures and their activity both online and offline.
