Glen Saffer  has been part of the far-right scene for a considerable time. Once an active English Defence League member and bodyguard to Tommy Robinson, Saffer re-emerged over the summer of 2025 as a leading protest organiser in Norwich.

Initially, the Norwich protests were organised by Sydney Jones and James Harvey. When Harvey was handed bail conditions, Jones took up the brunt of organisation in Norwich, and platformed Saffer as a guest speaker. During one of his early protest speeches, he unveiled his own plans for asylum seekers:

“When you get undocumented people come to this country, they should be kept in an army place. Barbed wire all the way around it. Kept in there. No TVs, give them three meals a day instead of four meals a day. Give them weetabix for the rest of their life…”

After some internal conflict, Jones stepped away from activism in Norwich, leaving Saffer to take up the reins.

On one occasion, he encouraged others to chase down a local young man. The 18-year-old had given a brief interview to a local journalist, and joked that the biggest disturbance he had experienced in the area as a result of the hotel was that the protests had stopped him sleeping. Saffer interrupted the interview, asking if he was a “leftie”. As the young man attempts to walk away, Saffer and his followers pursue him down the road, repeatedly calling him a “pedo”. Six men then give chase, attempting to push him over, only stopping when police finally intervene. Following the incident, three men were charged with common assault.
