The Real News Correspondents Gala, to be held on April 29 in a yet-undisclosed location in central Washington D.C., is being touted as an alternative to similar traditional media gatherings, which gala organisers claim are “full of liberal elites coordinating propaganda to brainwash the American public”.
Instead, this event will bring together “members of the breakthrough media” to “celebrate the most successful first 100 days of any president in the last 100 years”. Featured guests are to include ‘alt-light’ social media personality Mike Cernovich, who rose to prominence for his men’s rights activism, anti-feminism and promotion of misogynist pick-up artistry.
More recently, Cernovich focused on promulgating anti-Hilary Clinton conspiracies – such as those surrounding her health and her involvement in an alleged peadophilia ring – in the run-up to the US election, and now looks to grow his media empire with the recent announcement of plans for a rotating panel show which will have a “globalist killer’s mindset”.
Also in attendance will be ‘alt-light’ Rebel Media host and Vice co-founder, Gavin McInnes. McInnes also founded the ‘Western chauvinist’ fraternal organisation ProudBoys, members of which were involved in recent violent demonstrations in Berkeley.
Also scheduled for April 29 and to be held in Mount Baldy, California, is an event hosted by ‘Make Cali Great‘. The event has an alt-right focus, with confirmed speakers including Kyle Chapman, AKA ‘Based Stick Man’, who was arrested after fighting a member of the public when promoting a recent Berkeley pro-Trump rally.
Another confirmed to speak is social media personality Anthime Gionet, AKA ‘Baked Alaska’, who was disinvited from Cernovich’s “Deploraball” Trump inauguration party following anti-Semitic remarks, and AltRIght.com contributor, conspiracy theorist, and vlogger Brittany Pettibone.
Pettibone’s vlog “Virtues of the West”, which has over 19,000 subscribers, promotes:
“… the traditional values that once made Western Civilization great, including but not limited to […] traditional gender roles and love of one’s own culture, race and country”
Pettibone is known especially for helping promote the ‘white genocide’ conspiracy online i.e. the belief that efforts are being made to turn white populations in majority white countries into racial minorities through immigration and other means. As she claimed in a since-deleted status from Gab.ai, a social network popular with alt-right adherents, “the anti-White agenda is real, folks”:
Interactions between members of the Alt-Light and Alt-Right often occur, but interactions between these groups and the mainstream of politics and the media are notably increasing.
Indeed, Lucian Wintrich, White House Press correspondent for The Gateway Pundit, is a confirmed VIP at Cernovich’s ‘Real News’ event. Events such as these, therefore, demonstrate the continued efforts of the Alt-Light and Alt-Right to mobilise Trump supporters around their far-right beliefs.
