This morning, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson) was between familiar courtroom walls where he pleaded not guilty to charges of harassment causing fear of violence against two Daily Mail journalists.
Having released a video slamming the Daily Mail and the broader mainstream media the evening before, Lennon’s confrontational approach to the British media continued at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning.
He was accused of harassing two journalists from MailOnline, on the social media platform X between the 5th and 7th of August 2024. He pleaded not guilty, arguing that his actions were in response to harassment from the two journalists, whom he claims endangered his family by publishing pictures of his children and ex-wife on holiday.
Predictably, dozens of followers flocked to record the event in and out of the courtroom. Attendees of note were YouTuber Mayhar Tousi, Sheila Gunn Read of Rebel News and Guramit Singh. Alongside them, Dan and Stan from Voice of Wales attended and live update decisions from the courtroom.
Journalists from far-right news organisation Urban Scoop were also at the court, as well as mathematician-turned-far-right Professor Norman Fenton. Lennon’s own YouTube account led a livestream covering the case, hosted by the little-known Wendell Daniel.
Lennon has been released on bail, and is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on the 3rd of July at Southwark Crown Court.
