STAND UP TO HATE IN 2024

A GENERAL ELECTION IS COMING. WHAT HAPPENS THIS YEAR WILL SET THE COURSE OF THIS COUNTRY FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.

TIME FOR HOPE

Let’s bring people together, challenge hatred and extremism and build a more hopeful country.

Since the last general election, we’ve witnessed a worrying increase in anti-migrant activism, rising prejudice against minority communities, growing hostility towards LGBT+ people, and the spread of climate conspiracy theories.

We will be campaigning against any candidates who cross our Red Lines.

That’s candidates with a history of hateful politics, dividing communities or being part of the growing Radical Right in this country. Our campaign is driven by values, not personalities.

Will you join us in this crucial cause?

I AM STANDING AGAINST HATE IN POLITICS

Do you want to stand against hate in politics? Sign our petition and send a clear message to candidates: It’s time to extinguish the flames of hate, not fan them.

Take The Pledge

TACKLING HATE WHEREVER IT COMES FROM

HOPE not hate will campaign to prevent the traditional far right, Reform candidates, antisemitic conspiracy theorists and any others who cross our Red Lines from winning seats at the General Election. We will announce other candidates we oppose as and when they formally declare.

As well as those groups, there are current MPs who sit on the ‘Radical Right’. The Radical Right is an ultra-conservative form of the Conservative Party that combines an extremely nationalist, anti-immigration, and anti-elite message.

You can see our current 10 top target MPs from the Radical Right below.

Read more about our strategy our Red Lines in our blog.

TIME FOR CHANGE

We have identified 10 top target MPs from the Radical Right of the Conservative Party. They are all standing in marginal constituencies where we have a real opportunity to get them out. Find out more about each and how to help us campaign against them on the links below.

SEARCH YOUR AREA

Use our map below to find and take action on your nearest radical right candidate. An election could be called at any time. We will be adding more candidates whose hateful politics crosses our red lines after nominations close. If you can’t locate anyone nearby, then please sign up for our emails with further ways to get involved in campaigning this election and beyond.

O̶U̶R̶ R̶E̶D̶ L̶I̶N̶E̶S̶

HOPE not hate stands firmly against hate – be it racism, antisemitism, anti-Muslim hatred, transphobia or any other form of prejudice. We also oppose those who, through their views or actions, fuel hate and division between communities.

As the General Election draws near, we are re-asserting our Red Lines with the intention of judging all candidates by them. We have already found candidates that have crossed our red lines. Find out more about them and how we are campaigning locally to get them out.

We will call out any candidate that crosses our red lines. This will apply to candidates regardless of party or their role within it.

Our response will depend on the nature of the candidate’s behaviour:

  1. Direct and persistent:
    • Comments intended to stigmatise entire groups
    • Comments that stigmatise an individual based on their identity
    • Comments that are part of a pattern
  2. Coded but offensive:
    • Comments that stigmatise groups using visual, spoken or written subtext
  3. Indirect:
    • Outdated language, that is no longer culturally acceptable would not cross our lines, but we would respond with a friendly explainer.
    • A social media ‘like’ won’t be evidence by itself, but will be considered in context
